A long time away
If you’ve been following HTW Dreads for a while, you noticed things went quiet. No new articles, no updates, nothing. I owe you an honest explanation.
Life pulled me sideways. Personal projects that took everything I had and left no room for much else. I won’t go into all of it, but stepping away from this space was harder than I expected. The dreadlock community has been part of my life for years. Walking away, even temporarily, felt like putting down something I actually cared about.
Why I kept thinking about this place
HTW Dreads was never just a website to me. It’s a space for people who genuinely care about locs, whether you’re just starting out, stuck on a maintenance problem, or years in and looking for products that actually work. The messages and comments kept arriving during my absence. That made it impossible to stay away for long.
What’s coming
I’m not easing back in slowly. I used this time to watch what changed, test products, dig into research, and think hard about what actually useful dreadlock content looks like right now. In practical terms:
- Product reviews without the noise. No sponsored takes, just honest assessments of the oils, shampoos, creams, and tools that actually hold up.
- Guides for real problems: thinning roots, loc fatigue, build-up, surviving the teenage stage. Whatever you’re dealing with.
- Cultural and historical context. Dreadlocks carry a lot of meaning that most sites skip over.
- Hair-type specific tips. 4a, 4b, 4c, type 3, Caucasian, mixed textures. One-size-fits-all doesn’t work here.
Thanks for still being here
Whether you’ve been around since the start or just found this site today, you’re who this is for. I’m genuinely glad to be writing again.
The best stuff on this site hasn’t been published yet. Let’s get to it.
